Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/5/2019
Like fellow hockey giants Art Ross and Lester Patrick, Frank "King" Clancy spent his life in hockey, first being affiliated with the NHL in 1921 as a player and then later as a referee, coach, general manager and ambassador - 65 years altogether! The Hall of Famer was a three-time Stanley Cup champion, first with his hometown Ottawa Senators (twice) and then with the Toronto Maple Leafs, with this splendid Clancy Hamilton Gum card not a champion at PSA but right up there on the Clancy "line" of the PSA Population Report. Meriting EX-MT 6 status from the firm, the Pop 6 is bettered by just six others out of the 70 total submissions of card #17. Curious is the (erroneous) write-up on the back about the Stanley Cup winners Clancy played on. A contributor to your important pre-war stash/portfolio this King will be.
