Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/5/2019
Joining those of teammates Howie Morenz and Georges Vezina as the most important/valuable cards in the Maple Crispette set, (other than the short-printed Sprague Cleghorn card), is that of left winger extraordinaire Aurele Joliat . The reverse includes not statistics but an offer for a free pair of skates in exchange for a complete set, with not many Cleghorns issued so as to limit the number of skates awarded. Joliat and Morenz would dash/dart around NHL ice surfaces for a decade together, Aurele’s stats highly impressive in 1924-25, the dynamo scoring a career-high 30 goals in just 25 games. This card #14 scored GOOD 2 at PSA, with light side-to-side creasing somewhat hidden/subtle in the Canadiens dark sweater, above the killer Habs logo.
