Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/5/2019
One of the hobby's most important rookie cards and one of hockey's all-time greatest offensive forces are featured here, with this Howie Morenz RC perfect for those not requiring high grade but desiring an attractive lower grade example without unsightly flaws. No creases affect the image of the young star, with a small lower right corner crease, a touch of soiling (front) and "No. 15 - centre" written on the back, the latter leading to the "MK" qualifier that accompanies the GOOD 2 grade. The 21-year old rookie, along with linemates Aurele Joliat and Billy Boucher, led the Canadiens to the Stanley Cup the same 1923-24 season that this card accompanied a William Paterson candy bar, Howie scoring four of nine Montreal goals in a two-game sweep of the Calgary Tigers in the Cup finals. Oh, how we would have loved to see him play!
