Big names galore in O-Pee-Chee’s 1939-40 set, with dozens of rookie cards (41) and Hall of Famers featured on big (5" x 7") cards. One-third have condition issues but the majority of the others are in what we like to describe as "nice collectible condition"; no unsightly flaws and VG, VG+ or VG-EX due to a subtle light crease and/or corner/edge wear. Rookie card notables are Abel and Bauer (VG+) and Dumart and Cowley (VG-EX), while Brimsek (crease, small stains) does not make it to VG. Similar (aforementioned) condition to report with RCs of Roy Conacher, Clint Smith, Pratt and Hextall and stars Broda, Jackson, Clapper, Weiland and Thompson. Splendid collectibles from the season the Rangers won the Cup, with the condition lowdown of the lesser lights available on our website.
Condition issues among the lower grade examples include back damage from scrapbook removal or two small punch holes or pinholes, with creasing at times also in the mix, to go along with corner/edge wear. The key Eddie Shore #100 card has a small tack hole, (to the right of his number 2), while 22 have blotches of glue on the backs but still display decently, including Horner, Hooley Smith and the Patrick brothers. Nine cards have either two punch holes or two tack holes, including Apps, Howe and Charlie Conacher. Completeness is an attribute, with an instant collection or break-up possibilities to consider.
