Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2020

The 1980s star here, with two sets of 1986-87 O-Pee-Chee cards featuring Patrick Roy rookie cards among the highlights. Everything has been stored in binders for years, with the Roy RCs (NM-MT, NM) and the ’86-87s appearing mostly NM-MT or better. An ’81-82 set (Coffey, Kurri, Moog, Savard, Stastny), two from ’82-83 (Fuhr, Francis, Hawerchuk), an ’83-84 near set and two ’84-85 near sets (Yzerman, Neely, Chelios) feature important rookie cards and also look to average NM-MT, with plenty of MINT cards to be discovered. The Gilmour RCs are not present, while completing is an ’88-89 Topps set (Brett Hull). Numerous Gretzky, Messier, Bourque and other star cards join the rookies, with more details and images of the keys on our website.
There’s actually one card (#22- Beck IA) not present in one of the two ensembles from ’82-83, while the ’83-84 near set is missing three cards; 29-Gretzky, 186-Delorme RC and 191-Mondou. It is the Gilmour RCs that are required to complete the two ’84-85 assemblies, with Yzerman rookies NM and EX-MT. Other than standard not-always-perfect OPC centering, we spot very few flaws among the pulled cards and although nine-pocket pages can hide flaws, we’d say the high bidder is in for way more pleasant surprises than unpleasant. Numerous possibilities with this inviting stash.
