The NHL’s first overall draft choice in 1988, Mike Modano spent over two decades with the Minnesota/Dallas organization, and currently holds the club records for games played, points, goals and assists. From the inaugural season in Dallas, we have a photo and video-matched Stars alternate captain’s jersey worn by the Hall of Fame member, in 1993-94. A one-year style, a CCM label and size “56” fly tag grace the collar, with embroidered NHL and CCM crests over the reverse hem. Styled with the inaugural team crest that saw use just the first season, “9” appears over the sleeves and verso in green, black and white layered tackle twill, with matching alternate crests over each shoulder. From a 50-goal season – Modano’s career best, this Stars jersey was worn by arguably the franchise’s greatest player.
Showing heavy use, there are numerous puck and stick marks covering each sleeve along with burns, pulls, scuffs and scrapes, with considerable pilling over the lower front and cuffs. There are also numerous team repairs, with multiple examples over each sleeve, with a large slit near the left cuff. An included photo has been matched to the washed-out big black mark showing in the photo, and to the two small washed-out black spots to the left of the #9 on the left sleeve. The jersey is also video-matched (Dec 12, 1993, vs the Florida Panthers) to the two partially washed-out black marks on the right elbow right after scoring a goal.
