Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/5/2019
Definitely intriguing and surely inviting to Canadian Football League card enthusiasts is this stash, led chronologically by seven 1954 Blue Ribbon (Chocolate) cards, with '56 Shredded Wheat (17) and '59 Wheaties (12) cards also less often seen than standard issues. Mostly low grade are the Shredded Wheat entries, with however an EX+ Rollie Miles to note, while Jackie Parker (G+) and Hal Patterson (G) highlight the mostly G to VG Wheaties lineup. Just two cards are required to complete a 1961 Topps set, with EX-or-better examples dominating and dozens of EX-MTs and NMs to discover. A heavily-marked checklist and low grade Faloney and Lancaster RC (G+) entries are notable exceptions. Appearing on (20) desirable two-card panels from 1962 are Patterson, Kaye Vaughan and three team shots, with 15 duos EX or better. Completing are 136 small "separated" cards from '62, with more details available on our website. This item is relisted from our Spring 2019 auction as Brian Battles from AL (USA) failed to honor his bid.
The small '62 cards show light to moderate handling/wear and average VG-EX to EX. Meanwhile, a VG+ card of 66-Ed Bradley leads the '54 Blue Ribbon contingent, with 63-Staton VG and 30-Berezowski G+, with the rest multi-creased and P-F; 11-Lumsden, 15-Tinsley, 17-Young and 76-Miller. The two missing cards in the group of '61s are #s 111-Dave Mann and 123-Gerry James. Some excellent break-up value is offered with this interesting assembly.
