Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/5/2019
Parkhurst's landmark inaugural hockey card effort has intrigued hobbyists since its issue, with this group a low grade offering featuring varying degrees/amounts of creases throughout. Poor and Fair examples dominate, with however some more attractive than others. The Rocket Richard rookie has multiple creases and rounded corners, while the Terry Sawchuk RC displays better with fewer and less obvious creases. Lach and Harvey cards exhibit blue ink transfer on the front but are not littered with heavy creases - decent. Similarly, there are somewhat pleasing low grade examples of stars Bouchard, Geoffrion, Mosienko, Kennedy, Stanley, Schmidt and 52-The Winning Goal. Card backs are generally problem-free without writing, paper loss, etc., although we spot a dozen exceptions (Lindsay, Lumley), with notable hammered cards being Delvecchio, Kelly, Henry (trimmed), Quackenbush and Broda. Gordie Howe is among those missing, with more details on our website. This item is relisted from our Spring 2019 auction as Brian Battles from AL (USA) failed to honor his bid.
Joining Howe on the "not present" list are 5-Olmstead, 6-MacPherson, 37-Gadsby, 44-McFadden, 48-D. Bentley, 72-Meeker, 80-Flaman and 83-MacKell. A large upper left corner region of the 84-Sid Smith card is also missing.
