Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2019

Featuring the Montreal Canadiens during their glory years throughout the 1950s/60s, we have a great collection of programs, media guides and postcards totaling forty-three. First, we have a pair of media guides including a desirable first-year example from 1960-61, followed by an example from the following season, in 1961-62. The first year guide has had the staples removed, with an edge tear along the spine and a clipped bottom tight corner, while the second year example shows toning along with a few creases to the front and back covers. Next, we have seven programs, highlighted by the game that caused the famous Richard Riot, with the March 13th 1955 Bruins program that sparked the incident (Boston 4 vs Montreal 2 – center line-up intact, heavier wear to the cover and rusting to the staples), followed by an example from 1948-49 (Oct 16th - Montreal 8 vs Chicago 2, with heavy wear including creasing, toning and light spine damage) and programs in pleasing condition from 1963-64 (Oct 12 1963 - home opener and Plante’s first game against Montreal, Habs 6 vs Rangers 2), 1966-67 (Dec 3 1966 Montreal 3 vs Chicago 2), 1970-71 (April 11 1971 Game four of the Quarterfinals) and 1969-70 (Jan 31 1970 Montreal vs Boston). The postcards include a Maurice Richard Dow Brewery example, a Jean Beliveau Molson’s promotional postcard (signed with a beautiful blue ink autograph), a second black and white Jean Beliveau Molson’s postcard, and a mix of 1950s/60s Habs postcards totaling thirty one, including Beliveau, Moore, Geoffrion, Cournoyer, Johnson and others. The majority just show light wear, with some having surface wear and corner dings. This item is relisted from our Spring 2019 auction as Brian Battles from AL (USA) failed to honor his bid.
