Attending the University of Minnesota from 1978 to 1981, Dave Terwilliger registered 122 penalty minutes during his collegiate career, with an additional season later spent in the IHL with Muskegon. We have a Golden Gophers jersey worn by the Edina native during the national championship season of 1978-79. Steichens and Rawlings labels with “48” sizing are affixed to the collar, with the vintage sweater measuring-out to roughly a size 52. Styled with the school’s trademark large “M” over the chest in layered burgundy and gold tackle twill, “15” appears over the sleeves and verso in matching material, with evidence of a removed nameplate.
A ton of puck and stick marks litter the front and sleeves along with board burns, scuffs and fabrics pulls/runs, with red paint transfer over the lower front, reverse and left shoulder, along with team repairs over the reverse. Coached by Herb Brooks and compiling a 32–11–1 record in 1978-79, over half a dozen players from Minnesota’s roster would play for Team USA and be a part of the historic “Miracle on Ice” squad that shocked the world at the 1980 Winter Olympics.
