Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2020
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/26/2020
Built at a cost of roughly $9.5 million in 1929 (north of $140 million in 2020 dollars), Chicago Stadium was the largest indoor arena in the world at the time of its construction. The venue served as the home of the Chicago Black Hawks, with numerous additional events hosted on Madison including Republican and Democratic national conventions as well as concerts from Led Zeppelin, The Who, Elvis and others. This lot contains a collection of vintage Chicago Stadium floor plans from the early-1950s totaling 13. Ranging in two sizes including 28” x 36” and 34” x 46”, there are plans for the boxing seat setup as well as other floor plans for areas of the arena including the mezzanine. Each has “Chicago Stadium Corporation” over the bottom right, along with their Windy City address. The majority are dated 1950 or 1951, with a couple dated 1945.
While condition isn’t ideal in the collection, with a number of plans having very large tears and creases as well as toning, edge tears and fold lines, a few are in nicer shape and would look impressive framed.
