Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2019

The WHA’s million dollar man, Bobby Hull would spend the full 8 seasons in the rebel league with Winnipeg, scoring 638 points over 411 games. From his fifth season in River City in 1976-77, we have a signed stick used by the superstar. A Northland Custom Pro model, “Hull” is stamped over both sides of the shaft, along with a factory code of “1178-1”. The original black tape is in place over the blade and shaved knob, with “9” handwritten onto the upper shaft. According to the accompanying letter of provenance (copy), the stick was originally used by Hull in an April 16, 1977 match vs San Diego (playoffs), with the stick then obtained by an individual who worked with the Ice Patrol for the San Diego Mariners. Hull has signed over the upper shaft in blue marker, adding a personalization to the original recipient.
The stick shows light use, with wear to the taped section of blade, with a few marks visible over the lower shaft. We should also note that shellac has been added over the signature.
