Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/5/2019
From his fourth and final season with the WHA’s Houston Aeros in 1976-77, we have a signed stick used by the legendary and incomparable Gordie Howe. A Northland Custom Pro model, a factory code of “1362-2” is stamped over the upper shaft, with the original white tape over the blade and black tape in place over the knob. According to the accompanying letter of provenance, the stick was originally used by Howe in a Dec 18, 1976 match vs San Diego, with the stick then obtained by an individual who worked with the Ice Patrol for the San Diego Mariners. Howe has signed over the upper shaft in blue marker, adding a personalization to the original recipient.
The stick shows nice use, with wear to the blade and lower shaft including a few puck marks, with the striping accents over the lower shaft loose. We should also note that shellac has been added over the signature.
