Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/5/2019
The king of Ice Kings, Howie Morenz, is offered here, with a classic pose featured on World Wide Gum’s 1933-34 issue. Oh the stories, oh the legend, oh how we wish there was game-action footage that would enable us to see just how electrifying the hockey icon was on a sheet of ice. Some swear that he was the greatest ever. Signed by the Canadiens in 1923 to replace Newsy Lalonde, he helped them to the Stanley Cup in his first year and in his first ten NHL seasons Morenz was in the top 10 of scoring every year, winning two scoring titles and three (Hart Trophy) MVP awards. Card #36 has been graded VG-EX 4 by PSA, with corner wear visible. Described on the (bilingual) back as one of hockey’s most colourful players, this Howie awaits your pre-war collection.
