Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/5/2019
One of the first European superstars to grace North American rinks, Borje Salming represented his nation on numerous occasions, with this Team Sweden jersey worn by the HOF star in international competition in the early-1970s. Salming competed in the 1972 World Championships when Sweden claimed bronze in Prague. The following year he helped lead his country to silver in Moscow when he contributed four goals and six assists in 10 games. A "Liga" manufacturer's tag is sewn into the back of the collar, with the vintage durene tie-neck sweater measuring-out to roughly a modern size 50. Blue leatherette "Tre Kronor" crowns are sewn onto the front, with “5” placed over the sleeves and verso in matching material. A signed LOA from Borje Salming will accompany.
A stick mark on the lower right front evokes nice game use, with a dime-sized hole in the doubled hem and three unrepaired holes on the back side of the left seam also to note.
