Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/5/2019
A gold medal winner with his native Sweden at the 2013 World Championships, Henrik Sedin had previously won gold at the European Junior Championships in 1998, with a silver medal earned at the 2014 Games in Sochi. We have a photo-matched Team Sweden jersey that was worn by the superstar at the 2006 Winter Olympics, with Sweden winning gold. An IIHF tag sits affixed to the collar beneath a Nike label with “56” sizing, with a Swedish Olympic crest over the right shoulder (heat-pressed). Styled with the three crown design, “20” appears over the sleeves and verso in matching royal blue tackle twill, with the Swedish Ice Hockey Association patch over the left breast. There is also an inventory bar code from Nike over the inside hem.
A few marks are present over the front and left sleeve including a washed-out large stick mark beneath the team crest, with a few fabric pulls over the right sleeve. There are also a few small rips along the top edge of the reverse band. Getty Image #56879973 from Feb 18 (preliminary match vs Latvia) has been matched to the black mark to the left of the nameplate (near the seam), while Getty Image #56928594 from Feb 24 has been matched to the black mark on the lower left sleeve, and to the series of black marks to the right and lower right of the team crest (5-6 marks). Finally, Getty Images #56929535 from Feb 24 (semifinal match vs Czech Republic) has been matched to the series of black marks to the right and lower right of the team crest (5-6 marks).
