Number 5 on the NHL’s All-Time Points list, Ron Francis won a trio of Lady Byng trophies during his exceptional career, with appearances made at four different NHL All-Star Games. From his time with Pittsburgh, we have a photo-matched Penguins alternate captain’s jersey worn by the Sault Ste. Marie native in 1993-94. A CCM label with handwritten “10A” and a size “52” fly tag are affixed to the collar, with embroidered CCM and NHL crests on the back bottom hem. Styled with “Pittsburgh” placed across the chest in individual letters, the solid black V-neck has been accented with oversized yellow-over-white tackle twill sleeve and verso numbers, with “Francis” across the affixed nameplate in matching material. The collar has also been vented.
Heavy use is immediately apparent, with numerous black puck and stick marks littering the lower front, with additional examples along with board burns over each sleeve. There is also heavy pilling present including beneath the fight strap and over the collar, with 19 team repairs situated over the front and sleeves. Getty Image #356205 from Jan 7, 1994, has been matched to the marks of the left portion of the "0" of "10" on the left sleeve, while Getty Image #348870 has been matched to most of the marks on the "0" of "10" on the left sleeve. Finally, two included numeric images have been matched to marks on the "0" of "10" on the left sleeve.
