Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/5/2019
One of only eight players in NHL history to score 70 goals in a season, Bernie Nicholls played in over 1,100 games throughout his 17 seasons, winning a Stanley Cup championship with Los Angeles as a coaching consultant in 2012. From his second best career total where he secured 100 points, we have a Kings jersey, with this photo-matched specimen worn by Nicholls during the 1984-85 season. Void of any collar labeling, the vintage sweater measures-out to roughly a size 50, with both CCM and Adidas embroidered crests over the lower reverse hem. Featuring the attractive Kings’ team crest with embroidered detailing that saw use until 1988, “9” appears over the sleeves and verso, with “Nicholls” across the affixed nameplate in single yellow twill. An LOA will accompany.
There is heavy scuffing over the lower front and sleeves, with a number of small team repairs present (some are material backed). There are also a few small holes resulting from board burns over each sleeve, with red paint transfer near each elbow section and over the lower reverse. We should note that the original fight strap was cut and removed at the base, with a second fight strap affixed adjacently. Getty Image #78412024 from Feb of 1985 has been matched to the long red mark/repair on the back hem and to the two red marks to its left.
