Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/5/2019
Appearing in every single NHL All-Star contest from 1947 to 1957, Ted Lindsay spent over a dozen seasons in Motor City, with the four-time Stanley Cup champion elected to the HOF in 1966. From the Stanley Cup championship and Art Ross-winning season of 1949-50, we have a stick used by Terrible Ted, with this desirable specimen team-signed by the Red Wings. A Northland Pro model, “Lindsay” is stamped midway down the shaft, with “7” handwritten beneath the knob. A stamp appears from team supplier Lippmans, with the original black tape intact over the blade and knob. Approx 18 have signed one side of the shaft including Lindsay, along with fellow deceased HOF legends Howe, Kelly, Abel, Lumley, Adams and Tommy Ivan.
The remaining signers include Gee, Couture, Peters, Carveth, Pavelich, Reise, Babando, Fogolin, McNab and a few others. Most of the signatures appear light but display well including the Howe, with light overall use exhibited on the stick, with a few small age cracks visible at the tip of the blade. A name is also written over the heel, with this likely the person the stick was originally gifted to, with "Detroit Red" scratched on the upper shaft of the stick as well. We should also note a number of small holes near the signatures.
