Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2019

This tantalizing diamond and gold creation commemorates the Montreal Canadiens’ somewhat unlikely 24th Stanley Cup championship in 1993. The Canadiens’ 16-win run to the title that spring was most unexpected, with Patrick Roy turning in his second Conn Smythe performance as Montreal beat out Quebec, Buffalo, the Islanders and Los Angeles to claim Lord Stanley’s trophy. In commemoration of the stunning championship on the occasion of the Cup’s centennial, the Canadiens presented rugged enforcer Mario Roberge with this breathtaking keepsake. The tableau displays 46 real diamonds surrounding the raised image of the Stanley Cup, with “1993” below. The 100th anniversary is represented by the 100 points of diamonds. One shank features the 1993 logo of the Stanley Cup finals with “Canadiens Montreal” above and “24 Together” below, while the other includes “Roberge”, an enameled Canadiens logo and “32”. The size 10 ring is stamped “Everest” and “14K” inside the band. Regarding condition, there is heavy wear over the band and along edges which includes scratches and dings, as the ring was obviously worn with great pride. Each shank has also been slightly worn down from use over the lower portions. Mario Roberge’s signed LOA accompanies this magnificent diamonds and gold bauble, a rarely-offered player’s championship ring from the Montreal Canadiens’ 24th Stanley Cup win in 1993. Please take note that this item may be subject to a silent reserve.
