Scoring his 545th NHL goal to become the league’s all-time leading scorer early in the 1963-64 season, the milestone occurred at the Olympia, on Nov 10th, with the Red Wings shutting out the visiting Habs, 3-0. We have original artwork depicting the feat, with this most likely used contemporarily for some sort of publication. At 13 ½” x 15 ½” and administered on illustration board, the black and white artwork shows Gordie battling a member from each Original Six club amid cheering fans, with “Come on Gordie” above, and “545” within the puck below. Pencil can be seen beneath the ink, with the original work exhibiting just minimal wear, including a chip on the right edge, creases over the upper right corner, and glue residue over the bottom section.
