This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/5/2019
Taking place at Madison Square Garden in February of 1979, the Challenge Cup was a series of international hockey games between the Soviet Union national ice hockey team and a team of All-Stars from the NHL. Hailing from the archives of the Toronto Sun, we have a large negative collection of images from the 1979 event totaling 64, with each photo originating from Game 2, according to information handwritten on the original envelope. All 35mm, the negatives are in strip form, with 4 to 5 images per strip, with a few loose examples. Highlights include game-action images of Dryden, Tretiak, Perreault, Sittler, Shutt, Lafleur, Gainey and others. Game 2 took place on Feb 10, with the Soviet Union taking out the NHL All-Stars, 5-4.
The majority of the negatives are in excellent condition, with no issues to note.
