Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/5/2019
Mirroring the size and design of the '51-52 cards long referred to as "Laval Dairy" which feature members of the Quebec Senior Hockey League, this group pictures players who toiled for senior teams located in the lower St. Lawrence River region of Quebec, (Bas du Fleuve), and situated in Riviere-du-Loup, Matane, Mont-Joli and Rimouski. Most notable are goaltender Denis Brodeur (VG-EX), father of HOFer Martin Brodeur, as well as Ossie Carnegie and Manny McIntyre, two-thirds of the famous colored line centered by Herbie Carnegie that starred in the 1940s for the Sherbrooke Saints. There's also Mexican-born Bernie Bernaquez and three brothers from Thetford Mines' famous Fillion hockey family, while one card, 34-Gerard Lachance, looks to be autographed on the back. Few creases are spotted throughout, with VG+, VG-EX and EX cards dominating and joined by a few better/lesser. Card #1-Poirier is notable, (G with light creases). Complete sets of these scarcities are offered infrequently.
