Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/5/2019
One of hockey’s most noteworthy fighters, Dan Maloney was selected 14th overall in 1970 and played in over 700 NHL games for four different clubs, later coaching both the Maple Leafs and Jets after retiring. We have five different Maple Leafs documents featuring the Barrie native, with a contract signed by HOF Builder Punch Imlach, along with four letters on NHL letterhead referencing fines to Maloney, with each initialed by HOF Builder Brian O’Neill. The contract is from 1979 and covers four seasons, with Maloney set to make $137,500.00 his first season in 1979-80, climbing to $152,500.00 for 1982-83. Imlach has signed in ballpoint just above Maloney, with both signatures displaying well. The four fine letters originate from 1981 and 1982, with each referencing specific infractions, with the fines listed. O’Neill has initialed each in ballpoint, with just expected handling wear to the 7” x 11” documents.
