Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/5/2019
The young Edmonton Oilers provided hockey fans with exciting play in the early-1980s, with their cards among the highlights of O-Pee-Chee’s 1981-82 issue. This assembly is loaded with cards in as-issued condition, meaning lots of crisp cards, many of them high grade. Well-centered and at least NM or NM+ are the rookie cards of Paul Coffey, Jari Kurri, Peter Stastny and Dino Ciccarelli, with Andy Moog’s RC similar but with an image left of center. As is often the case, OPC’s cut jobs affect a certain percentage, with cards of Gretzky and Messier, along with RCs of Denis Savard, Larry Murphy and Glenn Anderson unfortunately displaying diamond cuts. Checklists are unmarked and the cards have been stored in nine-pocket pages for years; no one has been handling them, although we do spot some lightly touched/dinged corners here and there. Some nice stuff however awaits the high bidder. Rookie cards not already mentioned contribute to a total of 55 and include Lowe, Kerr, Lemelin, Dale Hunter, Beaupre, Darryl and Duane Sutter, Wickenheiser, Acton, Riggin and Bannerman. A Mike Gartner second-year card is required to complete the set.
