Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2019

Boasting the rookie card of sniper extraordinaire Mike Bossy is O-Pee-Chee's 1978-79 hockey card effort, with this assembly featuring a majority of cards which exhibit little or no handling, although the blades at the O-Pee-Chee factory are in part responsible for not all being MINT. Intermittent corner touches are observed, while some rough edges, somewhat common with this issue, are also to note. We consider this set to have a NM average, with immaculate surfaces the norm. The Bossy RC is well-centered but its left edge is visibly rough, with a touched lower right corner also contributing to its EX-MT assessment. The Bobby Orr Special Collector's card (#300) is NM, while a Dave Taylor rookie features a pinhead-size indentation just in front of his nose that shows up as a stain/blemish on the back; otherwise it's NM-MT. Plenty of NM-MT and better cards are present, with the rookie card lineup totaling over four dozen (51) and including Doug Wilson, Bernie Federko, Ron Duguay, Brian Sutter, Randy Carlyle, Barry Beck and Reed Larson. Checklists and team checklists are all unmarked, with checklist #24 off-centered and with a slight diamond cut. We spot but two creased cards, (80-Rick Martin and 117-Daigle), while 330-Dryden All-Star could also stand an upgrade. Also to note is the miscut #1-Bossy Highlight card. Despite the exceptions, there are still dozens of grading possibilities.
