Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2019

Here we go again - for the third consecutive time around and from the same consignor comes a rather bizarre set of 1952-53 Parkhurst cards, the majority of which are in crease-free condition, but with seldom-seen flaws. Although numerous cards feature EX-MT and NM characteristics, including pleasing original colors, the edges/borders strike the beholder. Numerous cards have uneven cuts, with obvious not-straight edges, or diamond cuts. It's as though they were amateurishly cut from an uncut sheet, with various sizes present and oftentimes measuring short or narrow or, in the case of a few star cards, over-sized. Interestingly, our consignor remembers buying considerable amounts of packs from the same store back in the day. Cards of 1-Maurice Richard, 14-Doug Harvey and 86-Terry Sawchuk are a tad wider than a “normal” ’52-53 Parkie, with the aforementioned uneven edges and the Rocket very close to miscut, similar to the (creased VG-like) Gordie Howe card, which however measures correctly. The key Tim Horton rookie card is crease-free but tapers and is narrower at the bottom than at the top, with the Armstrong RC definitely narrow and the Moore RC creased, stained and "wide". We cannot measure and inspect every individual card; some may "pass", but we'd have to again say buyer beware with this offering. Please see our website for additional photos.
Joining the Howe and Moore RC in the creased category are nine other cards, with notables being 34-Boivin RC, 59-Lumley and 93-Olmstead.
