Making their home in New Jersey during The Great Depression after relocating from York, the Trenton Senators began play in the New York–Pennsylvania League in 1936, with the club re-christened the Packers during the war years, beginning in 1942. This Packers jersey was worn while the team served as Philadelphia Phillies and then Brooklyn Dodgers affiliates in the Interstate League. A period Spalding label graces the collar, along with a size “44” swatch and “Dry Clean Only” tagging. Featuring “Trenton” in stylized script across the chest in black felt, “19” is affixed to verso in matching material, with black piping over the sleeves and shoulders. The “Health” patch worn by major league clubs during the war is situated over the left sleeve, with each of the original mother of pearl buttons in place. An LOA will accompany this desirable flannel.
A player's name and what appears to be "1943" are written over the lower front, next to a small hole. There is dirt staining throughout, with a few rust-coloured stains over the reverse neckline and left shoulder, with a small section of the “9” detached. There are also a few additional stains present, with an approx 4” x 7” area cut away from the reverse tail.
