Granted the NBA’s 28th franchise in 1993 for a then-record expansion fee of $125 million US, the Toronto Raptors began play in 1995, with the club the first professional basketball team to represent Toronto since the BAA Huskies in 1946-47. Celebrating their recent championship – the first in franchise history, we have a pair of Raptors ticket stubs from the inaugural match on Fri Nov 3, 1995, vs the New Jersey Nets, along with a first-game commemorative ticket and Nov 3, 1995, Toronto Sun newspaper featuring the Raptors. The ticket stubs are both 3 ¼” x 5 ½”, with the date and opponent listed along with “Season 1”, while the commemorative ticket is 3” x 6 ½” and sealed in lucite (3 ¾” x 7 ½”). The newspaper is complete and picture’s Damon Stoudamire on the cover with the headline “History in the Making”, with just toning and light handling wear, with the original inserted “Go Raptors” two-sided broadside (8 ½” x 11”) included.
