Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/5/2019
Beginning his professional hockey career with a single season in the WHA with Birmingham in 1977-78, Ken Linesman would see action with four different NHL clubs throughout his tenure, with a Stanley Cup championship won with the Edmonton Oilers in 1984. From his time in the City of Brotherly Love, we have a photo-matched Philadelphia Flyers jersey worn by the Kingston native, in both 1980-81 and 1981-82. A W.A. Goodman and Sons label with “M” sizing is affixed to the collar, with the vintage mesh sweater measuring-out to roughly a size 52. Styled with the classic winged-P team crest, “14” appears over the sleeves and verso in oversized and layered tackle twill, with “Linesman” across the affixed nameplate in single white twill. We should note that the Flyers wore these jerseys prior to being hemmed during the 1980-81 season and the 1981-82 pre-season. They were hemmed for the start of the 1981-82 regular season and only worn in October 1981 when the club switched to SandowSK.
Sporting moderate to heavier use with numerous puck and stick marks covering the front, there are additional marks and board burns over each sleeve, with a few team repairs situated near each elbow. The jersey has been photo-matched prior to being hemmed-up, with an included numeric image from 1980-81 matched to the small black mark at the top right of the team crest, to the black mark through the orange circle and to the other black mark in the white area below it. An additional 3 images have also been matched to some of the same marks over the team crest.
