Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/5/2019
Seeing use at the close of the highly collected Original Six era, we have a pair of professional model gloves, with these the same models used by the Montreal Canadiens during the late-1960s. Produced by Cooper Weeks and in Habs colours with their cloth label over the right glove, each glove feature’s a silver-stamped Habs CH logo over the thumb section, with additional silver text (now somewhat faded) over the wrist guard including “CHP”, “Cooper Weeks” and “Professional”. The gloves show considerable use, with heavy rubbing to the leather throughout, with holes in each palm including larger examples on the left glove. We should also note that photographs from the era show Canadiens players wearing these models with numbers handwritten or stenciled in the blue area over the thumb protector, with other images showing players also wearing these models with no numbers.
