Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2019

Sidelined for a good portion of the 1992–93 NHL regular season with a back injury, Wayne Gretzky still managed an especially impressive 65 points in just 45 games, with an additional 40 points during the playoffs! Scoring a hat trick against Toronto in Game 7 of the Campbell Conference finals, this victory carried Los Angeles to their first Stanley Cup finals in franchise history. We have a signed stick that saw use in the talented hands of The Great One during the 1993 Stanley Cup playoffs. An Easton Aluminum model, “Gretzky” factory graphics appear over the upper shaft, with this repeated on the stem of the inserted wooden Easton blade. The original Gripper is intact on the handle, with the blade tape removed (traces are visible) to facilitate the large black marker Gretzky signature with personalization (somewhat faded) and “1993” added.
Codes have been handwritten by Kings’ trainer Peter Millar over the top of the knob, including "P93", with a line and the number "53" placed below. Exhibiting just very light game use, there are a few minor marks and abrasions to the lower shaft. We should note that the stick was gifted to a Maple Leafs employee, and due to the light game use visible, the stick may have been given to that employee from the rack of prepared sticks for the Leafs/Kings Clarence Campbell Conference Final series.
