Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/5/2019
Beginning life in Ottawa as a $25,000.00 WHA franchise in 1971, the Nationals moved to Toronto to become the Toros in 1973, with the club seeing just three seasons of action which included advancing to the semifinals during their inaugural campaign. Hailing from the days the Toros called Maple Leaf Gardens home in 1974-75 and 1975-76, we have an original Toros sign that was once mounted in the famous venue. At a large and imposing 36” in diameter and constructed of thick Masonite board, the Toros logo is wonderfully recreated in proper blue and red, with this placed over a white background. Sporting considerable wear associated with its former use, there are numerous marks and blemishes throughout, with holes drilled at the top, sides and center for mounting. “North West” has also been handwritten over the reverse in large black letters.
