Consisting of 8 total games, Super Series ’76 featured HC CSKA Moscow (The Red Army) and Krylya Sovetov Moscow (Soviet Wings) of the Soviet Championship League taking on NHL clubs, with each Soviet team playing 4 games. The series is well remembered for the Red Army game against the Montreal Canadiens on New Year’s Eve, a contest widely considered as one of the greatest games in history. We have a collection of stubs from 7 of the 8 contests, including the New Year’s Eve tilt at the Montreal Forum, along with Dec 28 (Red Army 7 – NYR 3), Dec 29 (Soviet Wings 7 – Pitt 4), Jan 7 (Soviet Wings 4 – Chi 2), Jan 8 (Red Army 5 – Bos 2), Jan 10 (Soviet Wings 2 – NYI 1) and Jan 11 (Red Army 1 – Phi 4). The Russian clubs would win the series, finishing 5-2-1. As an added bonus, we also have an additional stub from Super Series ’80, for the Dec 31 contest between the Red Army and Montreal Canadiens. The majority of the stubs exhibit just expected handling wear, with some toning to the Super Series ’76 New Year’s Eve ticket, pencil writing and paper loss to the reverse of the Dec 28 stub and spotting to the reverse of the Jan 8 stub.
