Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/5/2019
A librarian’s dream - or nightmare due to the sheer volume - we have a large hockey book collection totaling approx. 227, with a mix of both soft and hard covers, with a number of desirable titles. Highlighted by a trio of antique hardcover books (two feature just hockey covers, with no hockey content) including The Young Explorer (1912), The Boys of Columbia High on the Ice (1911) and The Swiss Family Robinson (circa-1900), other hardcover highlights include Remembering Tim Horton, The Jacques Plante Story, Conn Smythe – If You Can’t Beat ‘Em in the Alley, and Howe!, Shutout – The legend of Terry Sawchuk, Portraits of the Game - Classic Photos from the Turofsky Collection in the Hall of Fame, Rocket Richard, The Game – Ken Dryden, Hockey Hall of Fame Legends and many more. Some of the better soft cover and paperbacks include The Great Gretzky Yearbook, Jean Beliveau – My Life in Hockey, Bobby Orr and the Big, Bad Bruins, Gordie Howe (Fischler), I play to Win – Stan Mikita, Stanley Cup Fever (McFarlane), Hockey’s Captains, Colonels & Kings, Legends of Hockey and Summit 74 The Canada/Russia Hockey Series. There are also Hockey Hall of Fame Heritage books for 1970, 1974-75 (2), 1975-76 and 1982, along with a pair of Hockey Tips booklets, one for Jacques Plante, the other, Brad Park. Approx a dozen books are included featuring other sports/topics, including Gary Le “Kid” Carter (French language), Joe Louis – 50 Years an American Hero, Gilles Villeneuve (Gerald Donaldson) and Who’s Who in Canadian Sports. There is also a large pictorial volume for the 1980 Olympic Games in Moscow. Literally every hardcover retains its original dust jacket, with condition varying throughout the collection, with many of the older books exhibiting heavier wear from use and storage, with a few of the dust jackets torn, creased and soiled. Please take note that shipping will be substantial due to both weight and volume.
