Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2019

Classic O-Pee-Chee cards from the good old early-1970s are offered up here and we’ll go chronologically, with a lot of 230 from 1970-71 featuring a mix of conditions and averaging in the VG neighborhood. A nicely-centered #3-Bobby Orr card has an EX-MT appearance but is lowered by a very subtle small back crease. Rookie cards of Perreault (G) and Sittler (F) are present, along with numerous stars and Hall of Famers, the Sawchuk memorial card (VG) and three Orr trophy-winner cards (two creased, one miscut). Sixteen Deckle Edge inserts are also present but with no real big names. …...Overall condition improves in a near set (261/264) of ’71-72s, missing the Dryden and Lafleur rookies and the #264 checklist. Checklist #111 is lightly creased and partially marked. Average condition is easily VG+ and possibly VG-EX, with however the Dionne RC soiled and 100-Orr also low grade. A complete 24-booklet insert set averages EX. …..An almost complete set of ’72-73 cards is only missing the #6 checklist and looks to be dominated by VG+, VG-EX and EX examples. Checklists 19 and 334 (“More WHA Stars”) are unmarked, with #190 marked. The WHA cards at the end are always a treat to peruse, with however the 336-Bobby Hull card multi-creased and F. Over a dozen team logo inserts are a swell throw-in, with three WHA entries VG. A Player Crest near set (18/22) is also included with however Orr not present and condition averaging VG. …..A complete set (264) from ’73-74 completes the offering, with grey back versions far outnumbering white backs. We would say condition averages EX or very close to it, with the Larry Robinson rookie EX and the Billy Smith RC off-centered and VG+. Checklist 263 is heavily marked while the other two are unmarked. All sorts of possibilities with these wonderful blasts from the past which have been handled and enjoyed but not abused.
