Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/5/2019
A group of 1968-69 O-Pee-Chee cards (180/216) and a '69-70 OPC near set (230/231) lead chronologically here but not condition-wise. The 68-69s are VG or lower and average G at best, with Poor notables being Parent RC (back damage), Redmond RC, 1-Harvey and 214-Orr Norris. A side-to-side crease sends the (diamond-cut) #2-Orr to F, with 29-Howe better at G. Orr All-Star, Hull and two checklists are among the three dozen not present, while an Orr All-Star is the lone missing card from '69-70. Condition overall tends to be similar or a tad lower, with 24-Orr (G) joined by F examples of Esposito RC, Savard RC, 61-Howe, 193-Howe Mr. Hockey (with #) and 209-Orr Norris. Condition improves significantly with a complete '73-74 OPC set (264); few creases are spotted, with corner/edge wear sending the average to EX to EX+. The checklists are unmarked, with Robinson RC EX and Smith RC EX-MT. Pleases see our website for '74-75 Topps and other details.
Further to the '73-74 OPC set, there is a mix of grey and white backs, while the Terry O'Reilly RC is a notable condition exception; multi-creased and F. .....Meanwhile, a '74-75 Topps near set is four cards shy of completion and features mostly sharp EX-MT and better cards, with notable rookie cards including those of Potvin (diamond cut), McDonald and Salming, along with coaches Bowman and Cherry. Not present are two checklists, 100-Orr and 155-Dryden. .......The missing cards from '68-69 are #s 16, 34, 53, 56, 58, 61, 62, 72, 79, 100, 108, 121, 133, 134, 137, 139, 140, 144, 150, 154, 157, 159, 164, 166, 170, 181, 193, 197, 200, 202, 203, 204, 209, 210, 213 and 215.
