Here's the lowdown on this shoebox-like find of old Topps cards: A set starter from 1957-58 includes 41 of 66 cards and is dominated by low grade P-F-G cards, with a few VG examples also present. Notable rookie cards are those of Ullman (F), Litzenberger (F), Vasko (P) and Fontinato (F), with a few Hall of Famers also present; Kelly, Bathgate, Flaman, Stanley, Pronovost and Gadsby. .....Blue-bordered representatives from '62-63 are 14 shy of a complete (66-card) set, with mostly hammered cards (writing, trimming, heavy creases, etc.) joined by about a dozen respectable-looking examples. Among the notables missing are Hall, Hull, Mikita, Gilbert, Hadfield RC, Rangers Team and the checklist. .....There are then two groups from '65-66. The first (116/128) includes some atrocious(!) entries, with Esposito, Giacomin, Cournoyer and Henderson rookies all P, with P and F cards dominating the rest and no-shows that include Cheevers RC, the team cards, Howe 600 Goals and checklist #66. The second batch (107/128) is a little more acceptable/respectable but does not include any of the aforementioned key rookie cards or Hull or Howe (or the cards missing from the first group) and overall is still low grade. .....Finally and refreshingly, a pieced-together '69-70 ensemble (132 cards) is complete and includes crease-free VG-EX and EX cards, with however lower grade examples mixed-in and including Savard RC, Orr (P), Esposito, Mikita and a multi-creased (unmarked) checklist. Some sifting and sorting fun await the new owner of these!
