Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/5/2019
Led by Cy Denneny’s 31 points scored in only 24 regular-season games, the Ottawa Senators would finish first at the conclusion of the 1922-23 NHL season, and would go on to defeat Bullet Joe Simpson and the Edmonton Eskimos for their tenth Stanley Cup championship. This original cabinet photo of the 1922-23 Senators was taken in Calgary, presumably en route to the finals which were played at Denman Arena in Vancouver, and feature’s eight Hall of Fame members including George Boucher, Frank Nighbor, Frank "King" Clancy, Tommy Gorman, Clint Benedict, Eddie Gerard, Cy Denneny, and Harry "Punch" Broadbent. Housed in what appears to be its original frame (13” x 15”), the photo displays beautifully, with some silvering to the image and light to moderate wear to the frame itself.
