Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/5/2019
Featuring original artwork of Mr Hockey, we have a collection of pennants and postcards, along with a few other items. First, the original Gordie Howe artwork is by Dick Mayer, at 11” x 15” and dated “4/21/67”, with Batman, Perry Mason and Matt Dillon (Gunsmoke) also pictured. The work is in reference to tv ratings, with the others apparently lacking behind Howe in the numbers. There are cropping and notation marks, with no large creases, tears or issues. The Pennants total 3 and include a desirable 1950s Red Wings player pennant (general wear, with a bit of discolouration to the white border, with the lower tassels missing), along with a pair of 1960s photo pennants, with one for the Red Wings (staining, discolouration and heavy toning to the back of the photo) and the other, the 1966-67 Black Hawks (general wear, with the top tassels missing). This is followed by 8 1980s Bruins postcards including Linesman and Kasper (light wear to the group), 16 1983 Team Canada World Junior postcards including Verbeek, Leeman and Turgeon (light corner wear) and a trio of misc postcards. The lot also contains 15 unopened boxes of Tuck hockey tape from circa-1970, 11 vintage plastic baseball figures and a hardbound copy of Sport Magazine, with issues from 1948.
