Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2019

Scarce Canadian non-sport display box here originally held 36 packs of Treasure Island Bubble Gum cards, with "Grant Products Limited, Barber-Green Road, Don Mills, Ontario" on the lower back panel informing of the issuer, with the company's encircled "GP" logo in the upper left corner. This was one of two non-sport sets that Grant Products produced after having merged with Parkhurst. The top of the box hailed Robert Louis Stevenson's Treasure Island the World's Greatest Pirate Adventure, with 60 cards making up a complete set and packs retailing for five cents each. Although the wrappers were English only, the cards, along with text on the box, were bilingual. Colorful box offered exhibits handling and wear, with notably the upper edge of the top panel split, (one would have to perforate most of it for in-store display purposes), and the little right section above the five-cent price missing. Three of the four pieces of scotch tape applied to the underside have dried/lifted. Four small areas of paper loss on the front panel are to note, along with two on the box top, with however no unsightly creases to the latter. Corner wear throughout and some creasing in the back panel do little to affect the display-ability of this fantastic find.
