Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/5/2019
All once proudly wearing the famous blue and white sweater, we have a collection of sticks used by 7 past members of the Toronto Maple Leafs. Included, we have examples for Wendel Clark (Mid-1990s Bauer - type of stick he used with Islanders, Maple Leafs, Lightning and Red Wings), Feliz Potvin (circa 1996-97 KOHO), Russ Courtnall (2 – both Sher-Wood, with one from the mid-1990s with #16, his first number with Toronto, and one multi-signed from the early-to-mid-1990s while with the Stars), Stewart Gavin (late-1980s/early-1990s Sher-Wood – used during his time with the North Stars), Mark Osborne (mid-to-late-1980s Canadien) and Gord McRae (mid-1970s Vic). Each stick retains the original tape over the blade and handle/knob (the mid-1990s Courtnall stick had the blade tape removed, with tape that was then added to solidify a large crack), with condition varying within the collection, with most showing moderate wear and a few with heavier wear - including the Clark and Osborne. We should also note that the McRae has some cracking at the heel section, with black tape added to the shaft of the Potvin stick to rectify a crack. The multi-signed Courtnall stick has been signed by approx 13, including Courtnall and Derian Hatcher, with most of the signatures somewhat obscured by the stick's black graphics.
