Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/5/2019
The second incarnation of the club, the Drumheller Miners won the Alberta Senior Hockey Championship for four consecutive seasons during the late-1960s, from 1965 to 1968. The Miners were also Allan Cup champions in 1966, with a tour of Europe occurring in 1966-67. We have an especially attractive vintage Miners jersey from the late-1960s/early-1970s, with this #1 specimen attributed to netminders Don Wallis and Russ Gillow, according to our consignor. Void of any labeling and measuring-out to roughly a size 44, “Miners” appears across the chest in stylized script administered in white felt, with “1” over the verso in single white twill. There are also three white felt stars over each shoulder, with six eyelet configuration on tie-neck construction. A vintage 8” x 10” photo showing a trio of the Bentley brothers in their Miners uniforms including Doug is included, along with a 1966-67 Miners program.
The jersey remains fairly clean with some pilling in spots, with a few small holes over the lower left sleeve. There is also a bit of faint red discolouration over the left elbow, with a small amount of blue paint transfer over the lower reverse. The photo and program both show moderate to heavier wear.
