Ranging from the 1920s to 1970s, we have a collection of programs totaling 34 – including 3 team-signed Bruins examples, with each hailing from the personal collection of noted netminder Don Simmons, with many originating from his career. First, we have 7 Bruins programs including the 3 signed, 5 Leafs programs, 7 Springfield Indians, 4 Buffalo Bisons, 3 Galt Terriers, 2 St Catharines Tee Pees, 2 Buffalo Norsemen and single Guelph Biltmore and Johnston Jets programs. The signed Bruins programs are from the 1957-58 season, with many of the same individuals signing either 2 or all 3 programs, with 18 sigs on one and 20 on each of the remaining pair. Signers on all 3 include Simmons, along with Schmidt, Horvath, Mackell, McKenney, Stasiuk, Stanley, Hillman, Labine, Chevrefils, Flaman, Peirson and Boivin, with additional signers to include Stasiuk, Bucyk, Toppazzini, Bionda and others. An LOA from the Simmons family will accompany.
The earliest program is an Indians example from the late-1920s, followed by a second Indians program from the early-1930s, with the remaining 5 from Simmons time with the club in the 1950s. There is also a pair of Indian ticket stubs from 1954-55. The Bruins programs all hail from the 1950s (one is from the 1960s), with covers to include Terry Sawchuk, Johnny Bucyk and Bill Quakenbush. The Leafs programs all originate from the late-1950s, with covers featuring Max Bentley, George Armstrong, Ron Stewart and others. The Bisons programs all appear to be from the 1950s, with the trio of Galt programs from the 1948-49 season. The majority of the publications show moderate to heavier wear, with some having damage including loose/rusty staples, cut/torn pages and mildew. Also included, there is a Milwaukee Sporting Goods spring and summer catalog from 1948, with moderate wear present.
