Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2019

One of the most elegant, richly detailed and historically significant functional display pieces we have ever had the pleasure of offering, we have a stunning silver-plated tray that was presented to netminder Don Simmons for his status as a Stanley Cup champion with the Toronto Maple Leafs, in 1962-63. At 17” x 26” at the widest points and a masterpiece of impeccable craftsmanship, an extremely well detailed and intricate raised floral pattern graces the perimeter including the stylish handles, with an engraved symmetrical design dominating the surface. Centralized text announces the tray’s importance, including “League Champions and Stanley Cup Winners”, “1962-63” and “Don Simmons”. Included with the gorgeous keepsake, we have the original accompanying pieces with the equally impressive coffee/tea pot, cream and sugar dispensers and small heating stand. An LOA from the Simmons family will accompany this majestic display tray.
The tray remains in absolutely gorgeous condition, with surface scratches and minimal tarnishing over the reverse the only flaws to mention, with these not affecting the overall aesthetics and display characteristics. “Wilcox” and “International Silver Co” are stamped over the reverse, along with a pair of hallmarks and “2881722”, “P ON Copper” and “WMMTS”. The coffee/tea pot (8”) has a few small dark marks on the side and bottom, with the sugar and cream dispensers also showing just a bit of tarnishing in a few small areas. All three accoutrements have “Leilani”, “1847 Rogers Bros”, “IS”, “EP ON Copper” and “WMMTS” stamped on the bottom, with the additional production numbers of “9101” on the tea pot, “9103” on the sugar bowl and “9104” on the cream dispenser.
