Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/5/2019
Coached by legendary Maple Leafs netminder Turk Broda and captained by Al McNeil, the Toronto Marlboros would finish third during the 1954-55 OHL season, and would go on to win the J. Ross Robertson and Memorial Cups. We have a large oversized photo of the 1954-55 squad that once hung in vaunted Maple Leaf Gardens, along with a photo album containing an impressive 44 Marlboros photos from the following season, in 1955-56, where the club again won the Memorial Cup. At 28 ½” x 40”, the imposing black and white image pictures the full team along with management, with the Memorial Cup in full view. Mounted to board, there is some general wear present including a few small stains and surface wear, with additional wear along corners and edges, along with a few cracks through the surface and a small broken but intact section near the top center. The leather-bound photo album is 8” x 12”, with a 6” x 9” team photo on the first page, along with a second composite team photo over the reverse (7” x 9 ½’). The remaining 42 photos are all 5” x 6 ¾”, with a number of game-action shots. The album remains in very good condition, with just light wear to each of the glued-in photos.
