This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/5/2019
His third appearance for Team Canada at the Winter Olympics, we have a pair of photo-matched and signed goal pads that were worn at the 2014 tournament by Roberto Luongo, accompanied by a blocker that witnessed use during his time with the Florida Panthers in 2018-19. Also seeing action with the Vancouver Canucks, the pads are Reebok XLT Premier models produced by Lefevre and in solid white, with embroidered, screened and sewn-on identifiers. “Luongo” appeared embroidered over each outer side, covered with black patches during the Olympics, with the “Lefevre Reebok” labels over each lower outer section also covered. The blocker is a CCM Extreme Flex model by Lefevre, with “Luongo” embroidered on the top of the blocker’s reverse. A Fanatics Authentic hologram numbered “AA0037366” has been affixed to the blocker, with a Canucks COA to accompany for the pads.
The pads show heavy use, with numerous dark marks throughout. Luongo has signed the top of the left pad in black marker, and the signature stands out nicely against the white background. Getty Image #461110501 (Jan 4th 2014) has been matched to a number of marks on the right pad, while Getty Image #463660417 (Jan 18th) has been matched to a number of marks on the left pad, with Getty Image #463597137 (Jan 18th) also matched to the left pad, to the handwritten "10-10" on the lower exterior side of the pad. For both pads, Getty Images #469365095 and #474402005 (Feb 14th Team Canada) have both been matched to a number of marks on each pad. The blocker shows heavy use as well with a number of black puck marks covering the face, along with some red paint transfer over the inner side and on the cuff. A small “K” has also been handwritten, with this the initial of the NHL's senior director of hockey operations and goaltender equipment, Kay Whitmore.
