Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/5/2019
Each puck originally distributed by Hockey Diversified could be obtained by mail with the buyer’s choice of team and possibly player. A label was affixed to each puck listing the scorer, team and date, along with a code that divulged which team-goal said puck accounted for. This particular puck was used by Hall of Fame member Frank Mahovlich to score the Montreal Canadiens 193rd goal of the season vs the Detroit Red Wings at the Forum, on Feb 15, 1974. Assisted by fellow Hall of Fame inductees Guy Lapointe and Henri Richard, it was the Timmins native’s 18th goal of the season and 520th of his impressive 533 career goals. Scored in the first to put the Habs up by three, Mahovlich would add an additional goal and an assist for a three-point night, with the Canadiens defeating Detroit 9-4 in the high-scoring affair. The Goal Puck Program label has a few faint blemishes, with a few dark marks and a streak across the rubberized Canadiens logo. The puck itself also sports a few cuts/slices.
