Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/5/2019
Each puck originally distributed by Hockey Diversified could be obtained by mail with the buyer’s choice of team and possibly player. A label was affixed to each puck listing the scorer, team and date, along with a code that divulged which team-goal said puck accounted for. This particular puck was used by Hall of Fame member Yvan Cournoyer to score the Montreal Canadiens 290th goal of the season vs the New York Rangers, at Madison Square Garden, on April 7, 1974. Assisted by Pierre Bouchard and fellow Hall of Fame inductee Guy Lapointe, it was the Drummondville native’s 40th goal of the season and 316th of his impressive 428 career goals. His final goal of the season, it occurred at 16:24 of the first, with the Rangers already up by three, with each club adding three more for a 6-4 win at home for the Blueshirts. The Goal Puck Program label and rubberized Rangers logo both remain fairly clean, with just light wear to the puck itself.
