Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/5/2019
Each puck originally distributed by Hockey Diversified could be obtained by mail with the buyer’s choice of team and possibly player. A label was affixed to each puck listing the scorer, team and date, along with a code that divulged which team-goal said puck accounted for. This particular puck was used by Johnny Bucyk to score the Boston Bruins 236th goal of the season vs the California Golden Seals at the Oakland–Alameda County Coliseum Arena, on Feb 13, 1974. Assisted by Carl Vadnais and HOFer Phil Esposito, it was the Edmonton native’s 19th goal of the season and 454th of his 556 career goals. The first goal of a hat trick for Bucyk, the marker came on the power play at 15:27 of the second, with Chief also adding an assist for a four-point night. Bobby Orr would also contribute four points, with the Bruins taking out the Seals, 9-6. The Goal Puck Program label and rubberized Seals logo both remain clean, with just very light wear to the puck itself.
